The Scriptures– The Holy Scriptures are the infallible, inerrant, divinely inspired word of God. It has God for its author, written by men, perfectly guided by the Holy Spirit. Scripture is God’s revelation of himself to man. All scripture testifies to Christ.
God – There is only one true and living God. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise. He is creator of Heaven and earth and reigns with providential care over His creation. God eternally exists in one essence and three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Christ – Christ, the second person of the trinity is the eternal Son of God. In his incarnation, Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus is both truly man and truly divine – two natures in one person. Jesus Christ fulfilled the Father’s redemptive will, through his obedience and substitutionary death on the cross making provision for the redemption of man from sin. He arose from the dead, appeared to his disciples and ascended in his glorified body to be seated at the right hand of God the Father – from which he reigns as king and priest. Jesus will return in power and glory to judge the world.
Holy Spirit – The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, third person of the trinity, fully divine. He inspired men to write the Scriptures and through illumination He enables men to understand the Word of God. He convicts men of sin, calls men to the Savior and effects regeneration. Upon regeneration the Holy Spirit baptizes believers into the body of Christ and seals them until the day of final redemption. The Holy Spirit fosters Christian character and bestows spiritual gifts to serve God through His church.
Man – Man is the crowning work of God’s creation, made in God’s own image. And as God’s image bearers every person of every race, age or status deserves full dignity and respect. God created man to be in fellowship with Him and bring Him glory. In the beginning man was innocent with free will and choice. By this choice man sinned against God, thereby separating himself from God, bringing sin into the human race. Man is in need of salvation and only by God’s grace can fellowship be restored.
Salvation – Salvation involves the redemption of man from sin, power of death, and the wrath of God. It is offered to all who accepts Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. Salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification and glorification. Those who are born again of the Holy Spirit remain eternally secure by God’s power.
Church – The New Testament church is God’s chosen community of baptized believers, regenerated and sealed by the Holy Spirit. The church is the family of God, the body of Christ and the temple of the Holy Spirit. The universal church is made up of believers of all time and all places. Christians are to share in the life of the local church, regularly meeting with it for worship, accepting nurture and discipline, and share in its work as a witness to Christ Jesus.
