Plan of Salvation

The sound of diesel engines droning at 7 knots, all eyes on deck staring into the spread just waiting for the man in blue to cruise through.  Time slowly ticks away, until…

An empty hole in the water where your short rigger bait once swam, immediately the outrigger pops, and the line becomes tight with the drag screaming.  Slide the lever to full drag and fish on!!!  All the lines are immediately cleared, the Captain begins to even the playing field with a full throttle back down.  Water crashing over the transom and the angler is cranking beyond his physical ability. So close….we need these points, mate stretched out over the transom, gliding above the crashing waves, three more cranks and the leader is…Release!

Nothing is more exhilarating than the hunt for big fish in open water, especially on Day 2 of a big money tournament.  Let’s face it, we live for that moment.

But what happens when those moments stop coming, when the fish are nowhere to be found and the thrill you’ve been seeking no longer exists.  Where do you turn next??  Alcohol, drugs, sex, money, power……What are you going to use to fill that empty hole?  This world is full of choices; ask yourself….Are you truly happy?  Or are you just living from moment to moment, empty inside.

There is but One who can fill that hole and knowing Jesus is more valuable than any grander in the Mid Atlantic.

Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:13-14

You see, God created you.  You were formed by His hands. He knew you before you were born and He created you for a purpose.  That purpose, simply put, was to live in harmony with Him, glorifying Him and living an abundant, joyful life.

But, sin entered the world. It came through our own selfish desires.  Nobody had to teach you how to lie, cheat, steal or lust after another man’s wife.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”  Romans 3:23

And that sin has caused separation from God.  Because of our inward desires we no longer have a relationship with Him.

“For the wages of sin is death.”  Romans 6:23

Death is eternal separation, the difference between Heaven and Hell.

Thankfully, God made a way.  Our sin comes with a price, a price that must be paid.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Jesus paid the price for your sins on the cross.  His blood was shed so that you might have an abundant life today and eternal life with him forever.  A gift of forgiveness from God. Not earned, but given. All you have to do is turn from your sinful ways…

“But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”  Luke 13:3

And trust Christ.

“That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9

Jesus conquered death creating the way for eternal life.  You can have God’s forgiveness, heaven, eternal life, and Jesus as personal Savior and Lord.

Prayer of Salvation

Heavenly Father, I am a sinner. Please forgive me of my sins. I believe Christ died for me on the cross and has been raised to life. Thank you for your forgiveness and your gift of eternal life. Please come into my life and teach me to follow you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
